Redwin's Ratings

Sydney Ratings                                            Redwin's Ratings                                            Melbourne Ratings

Redwin's Ratings is Chad's very own system that he has designed and developed over more than 20 years.

It rates a horses individual ability as many form guides do. What is really unique is that it rates this ability against the remainder of the field! No other system does that!

Ratings are given out of 100, i.e., a horse rated at say 95 has a 10% better chance in the field of the day than a horse with a rating of 85. However, a horse rated at 95 in a particular field on a particular day, is unlikely to have the same rating in a future race against a different field.

Here are some of the criteria that Chad uses:

  • Track conditions and surface
  • Distance and barrier
  • Class and handicap weight
  • Strength of field
  • Likely pace
  • Jockey and Trainer
  • Recent track work times
  • Barrier trial and jump out form
  • Breeding indications

Chad doesn't reveal exactly how he weights the criteria, but states that there are variations in the weighting depending on other factors. One of these secret factors is what Chad calls his "X factor". Because Chad has access to a lot of information that never leaves the stable, he is able to weight the criteria accordingly.

Chad is not only a strategy "guru" in racing, he is also a realist. He knows more than anyone that no racing system on the planet is perfect. This is a numbers game and Chad believes his Redwin's Ratings system is the difference between winning and losing.

You give it a test drive and see what you think!

Race 7

Start:
4.30p

1500m
2:   O'Lonhro  100
3:   Rangirangdoo  97
1:   Strat's Flyer  95
8:    Ivory Pegasus  93

I’m sticking with O’Lonhro straight here but I won’t be taking odds on.

We all know by now that I am a big fan of O’Lonhro but I don’t let that influence my wallet.  Today I don’t have to as he will win this well.  Dropping back from WFA to the Quality handicap conditions makes him nearly unbeatable.  Rangirangdoo gets his chance to prove himself against an A grader here and looks the main, if only, danger.  Strat’s Flyer returned well after being freshened and while in career best form, he can place here. Ivory Pegasus probably won’t be suited by the pace here but her form behind Moti is strong and the stable is going full steam ahead to the Epsom with her.

Sydney - Rosehill  - 19th Sept 2009         Track - Good
Melbourne  - Caulfield - 19th Sept 2009       Track - Dead
Race 7

Start:
4.10p

1800m

12:   Whobegotyou  100
13:   Heart Of Dreams  96
11:   Vigor  94
15:   Zarita 93

I’ll be backing Whobegotyou straight.  By that I mean I’ll be going straight to the back of the line to be first to collect.  I like the exacta with Heart Of Dreams too.

I doubted Whobegotyou’s ability to sprint off a moderate pace last week but the blinkers has switched him right on.  This is the Cox Plate winner we are watching and he’ll win here too.  I was really taken with Heart Of Dreams run behind Vigor last start.  He is being trained a middle distance horse this time in and will be spot on today. Vigor was super last start after travelling wide and was still able to show real toughness at the end of the race to win. This is the litmus test for him today and he will have to run well to retain Caulfield Cup favouritism.  Zarita was a strong winner last start and the way she hit the line gave every indication she is up to this.  Don’t forget she was only 1.5L 4th in last year’s Cox Plate.
